Synopsis "Moonlight, Missiles, and Moana (in English)"
Three young Air Force servicemen on nuclear testing duty and three girls grow up during the Cold War confrontations of the early 1960s. Moana and South Sea Island greet Chance and Luke after they arrive in Samoa. Chance and Moana embark on a love affair that is interrupted by Chances military obligations and his own doubts about commitment. They separate briefly, then reunite for a number of idyllic months. Meanwhile, a Tongan warrior kidnaps Moana. Lukes friend Nakia saves them, later being beaten by the Tongan, and he and South Sea Island fall in love and plan a wedding. Chance, again estranged from Moana, arrives for the wedding with Luke from duty in Palmyra. Chance professes his love to Moana, and she shares with him what their fate together will be. This novel of the romance, intrigue, danger and adventure of hearts in love during tense military times is set against the stunning beauty of the South Pacific. It also begs to answer the question bubbling through Chance's mind: How can we touch souls above the moonlight and missiles, and come to earth on separate islands?
