Synopsis "Mediaeval Ancestors of the House of Peniarth Part 1 (in English)"

Volume III is divided into two parts which cover the mediaeval ancestors of the family at Peniarth recorded in Volume II and the wives who married into the family. Part I contains a chapter on Ednywain ap Bradwen, ancestor of Gruffudd ab Aron; Chapter II traces the ancestry of his mother Gwenllian; Chapter III traces the descendants of the Lord Rhys ap Gruffudd, several of whom feature in Chapter II, and especially the ancestry of the Griffiths family of Cefnamlwch, whose descendant Annes married David ap William of Peniarth; Chapter IV traces the family's descent from Llywelyn ab Iorwerth, Llywelyn Fawr, through the Barons of Edeirnion, and the families at Corsygedol and Nannau to Elizabeth of Ynysymaengwyn who married William ap John of Peniarth.
