Synopsis "Meandering in Somerset. (in English)"

Somerset what a beautiful county this is with the levels and then the other extreme is Cheddar with its magnificent limestone Gorge which reaches over 500 feet high in places. The ravine is the highest inland cliffs in the country which can be viewed from the road while driving through the gorge or for the adventurous a walk along the top of the cliffs. All the walks in this book are centred around Taunton the capital town of Somerset. When you leave that bustle of the town you are then soon in the countryside. This takes you down by-roads and lanes to places like Huntworth, Creech St Michael or Burrow Mump these all give you breath-taking views as they wind up steep hillsides and through a tapestry of bright and colourful open fields and the Somerset Levels. This leads on to linking up to a network of quiet villages and tucked away hamlets where time has not exactly stood still, but certainly appears to have slowed down.
