Il s'agit d'une biographie sous forme de témoignage d'un descendant d'immigrés juifs de Pologne au lendemain de la première guerre mondiale . Max Tzwangue a été résistant à l'âge de 16 ans dans le bataillon des FTP MOI de Lyon au sein du groupe Carmagnole. A la libération il était militant CGT et adhérent au parti communiste. Il rendit sa carte lors de la publication du rapport Krouchtcheff . Il s'initia au théâtre, sa façon à lui de retrouver la complicité et le fraternité qui l'encadra pendant son adolescence lorsqu'il était résistant. A la fin de sa carrière, il a été co-interprête du film Voyages d'Emmanuel Finkiel, une oeuvre originale et marquante destinée à témoigner de la Shoah pour la jeune génération.
