Gabapentin ist ein bitteres Medikament, das zur Behandlung von Epilepsie eingesetzt wird. Jetzt wird es auch bei Nervenschmerzen eingesetzt. In diesem Buch wird die Maskierung der Bitterkeit von Gabapentin durch Cyclodextrin erläutert. Zunächst wurde das Profil des Wirkstoffs und des Hilfsstoffs untersucht. Alle notwendigen Auswertungen und Interpretationen zur Reinheit, Charakterisierung mittels FTIR und anderen organoleptischen Eigenschaften wurden durchgeführt. Es wurden verschiedene Chargen mit unterschiedlichen Konzentrationen des Polymers hergestellt. Schlie lich wurde B-Cyclodextrin als geeignetes Polymer zur Maskierung der Bitterkeit mit der gewünschten pharmakologischen Aktivität und Wirkstofffreisetzung gefunden.
