Synopsis "Marburger Jahrbuch Theologie XXXIV: PRAXIS (in German)"

English summary: All theory is gray, my friend. But forever green is the tree of life. Theology can escape this reservation about a theory divorced from practice, ironically expressed by Mephisto in Goethe's Faust. As a positive science, theology is already related in many ways to the religious practice that precedes it, which it critically reflects and questions with regard to the underlying convictions, maxims of action, and options for shaping it. In doing so, the concept of practice must first be clarified in its complex relationship to theory. In this regard, current discourses on praxeology in cultural studies and sociology provide new impulses, which can inspire theology, too. This is what the contributions in this volume from church history (Peter Gemeinhardt), systematic theology (Dirk Evers, Cornelia Richter) and practical theology (Martina Kumlehn) want to show by way of examples.
