Hired by Jessica's husband to investigate her disappearance, Alma discovers a mysterious Spiritist cult and becomes entangled in the murky world of local politics and the dangerous business of kidnapping. In her search for Jessica, Alma is also forced to confront her own past and to embark on a surprising voyage of self-discovery.The novel opens a window into modern Mexico, its people and its expat community.
