Hintergrund. Hepcidin ist ein Hauptregulator des Eisenstoffwechsels, der den Transport von Eisen aus den Enterozyten und Makrophagen hemmt. Thalassemia major (TM) wird mit einigen endokrinen Störungen in Verbindung gebracht. Es wurden jedoch noch keine Studien über die Korrelation von Hepcidin mit Hormonspiegeln und Insulinresistenz (IR) bei Patienten mit TM durchgeführt. Zielsetzung. In der vorliegenden Studie wurde die Korrelation des Hepcidin-Spiegels mit einigen endokrinen und biochemischen Parametern untersucht, um die Faktoren zu bestimmen, die die Hepcidin-Korrelation bei Patienten mit Thalassämie hauptsächlich beeinflussen. Zu diesen Faktoren gehören Hormone, Eisenstatus und IR-Parameter. Material und Methoden. Hepcidin und andere gemessene biochemische Parameter wurden zwischen den TM-Patienten (100) und gesunden Kindern (37) verglichen. Ergebnisse.
