Die Studie wurde in Gualaco, Olancho, Honduras, durchgeführt. Sie stützte sich auf die Agenda 2030 und den kommunalen Entwicklungsplan (PDM) von Gualaco. Es wurde eine praktische Methode entwickelt, um die 17 UN-Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs) und den PDM zu übernehmen. Die strategischen und thematischen Achsen der einzelnen SDGs und der Inhalt des Plans wurden integriert. Der MMP wurde mit der Agenda 2030 vereinheitlicht, was zu einem Plan führte, der die Integration von Ma nahmen für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung vorschlägt und die ursprüngliche Arbeit respektiert. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf marginalisierten Gemeinschaften, der Gleichstellung der Geschlechter und den natürlichen Ressourcen der Gemeinde.
