Das Gesamtskript für das Gebiet "Mechanik" ist in den angegebenen Unterthemen (Ordner) modularisiert. Jede Datei entspricht genau dem Inhalt einer Vorlesung. Das Manuskript ist aufgrund der ergänzenden Zusatzliteratur ausführlicher als das Tafelbild bzw. die Präsentation während der Vorlesung. Die Mechanik ist beispielgebend für die anderen Bereiche der Physik und bildet deshalb den Schwerpunkt im gesamten Studienjahr. Behandelt wird die Mechanik von Massepunkten und starren Körpern. Nicht behandelt wird die Mechanik deformierbarer Materialien, Flüssigkeiten und Gase. Die Mechanik deformierbarer Medien ist fakultative Zusatzliteratur. Die Mechanik der Flüssigkeiten und Gase wird teilweise in der Thermodynamik tangiert. Die Geschwindigkeit v, auch Schnelligkeit einer Bewegung genannt, wird bei allen Betrachtungen sehr viel kleiner als die Lichtgeschwindigkeit c sein, die spezielle Relativitätstheorie wird also nicht behandelt.
