Synopsis "Kingdom Lost (in English)"

A light breeze caused the slowly falling snowflakes to spin: thousands of its twins could be seen drifting to the ground. A white expanse for the eyes to become lost in awaits those with the inclination to pause and enjoy. What could be seen of the ground was the opposite of all the tranquility of those falling snowflakes. Blood seems to cover almost everything or at least that is how Leif perceives it. Screams seem to permeate the air; sounding and ringing through his bones as if he himself were a tuning fork for those horrid sounds. Officers screaming at men. Screams of anger. Screams of hate. Screams of fear. Screams of agony. It seems that everything but the snow is screaming on this cold winters day.Standing in chain mail that is too large, with an axe in his hand that dwarfs his small frame is a boy that looks small and scared in this setting. This ragged boy bravely stares at the ground wondering if the horror that is there will soon be covered in a pristine layer of white. The blood and the sickening smell of offal hidden beneath winter's embrace. "Take half the remaining reserves and reinforce the east flank" King Jorge screams. Even a King must scream on this day of horror.Leif does not know the man who runs fulfill his father's command. As much as the battlefield brings a sense of horror, his father's presence fills him with a sense of love and pride. Leif trembles as he looks back to the battlefield; twelve years old he is terrified as only a child can be. As only a child who has discovered that the monsters are real, that those monsters are after him, and there is nothing his father can do to stop them would be. Slowly the axe he holds begins slip through his fingers as his fear induced sweat makes for a slick grip against the smooth wood."Father" Leif whispers not wanting to make any sound that might add to those screams. "Father, why are we not retreating?" A tremble moves through the boy's body as a tear slowly falls down his dirt smeared cheek. " Please...Please...Da..I want to go home...."
