Libri undecim ad viginti quinque narrat res gestas regum Macedonum, Graecorum et Persarum, cum maxime Alexandri Magni expeditionibus. Libri viginti sex ad quadraginta narrat res gestas Romanorum usque ad mortem Augusti. Iustinus scripsit opus suum in stilo brevi et conciso, et usus est fontibus historiographicis auctorum antiquorum, inter quos Plutarchus et Trogus Pompeius sunt praecipui.
