In 1944 hundreds of thousands of Lithuanian men and women formed an armed resistance against their Soviet occupiers. Few have survived to tell their story. As a Fulbright scholar I spent four years in Lithuania interviewing women, and men, who fought in the armed resistance, survived exile to Siberia or Tajikistan, and Lithuanian Jewish Holocaust survivors. This book gives a voice to the voiceless. This book tells the story of a generation that was forced to chose between good and evil as two powerful forces collided on their land. This book tells the stories of a people who were overlooked by history.
