Synopsis "Jandals (in English)"

One evening in Amsterdam, a group of teenagers save their world. Rich with history and ingenuity, JANDALS exposes a relevant contemporary story told through the eyes of our youth. The new found friends' casual encounter comes to a screeching halt when they enter the Anne Frank museum. The deafening walls speak to the horror, provoking the spirited, self-empowered, wise and inexperienced. As our brave travelers sneak through the dark streets of Amsterdam, they stumble on a purer form of existence. These engaged, funny and deeply rooted co-eds prove that peace can indeed be achieved through acts of kindness and love, not fear or force. American born Jeremy Lewis and Becca Fields jet off on a secret trip thinking no one would be the wiser. They met this summer during an elite peace counselor training program in Colorado. They bump into surfer dude Chris Alexander, the comedian of the group who hails from New Zealand on a brief pleasure stop before heading to the states on scholarship to play Rugby at Stanford and James Kisubi's, the soulful drummer is traveling home to Uganda from a Study Tour in Washington DC to attend the University of Kampala. Then there is Max Chen, a young Opera protégé from Beijing mischievously ditching his parents and delegation, Julie the Chinese Film student who's looking for answers through her camera lens and Abby the spy, a multi-lingual exotic beauty. They run into Klark Knight who's involved in a self-destructive mission that may potentially impact more than just himself. Enjoying the festival like atmosphere and mashed between tourists and tradition, they pass the time on the cobblestone characterizing their parent's generation offering the reader reminiscent moments of the anti-war movement, a March for Peace and the global climate of the less informed, all from a single spot in the Dam Square leading them to a place no one ever would imagine. JANDALS funny, fast and timely yet realistic tone reveals sophistication and insight never expected from our children...and the heroic action of a thirteen year old Chinese boy!
