الغُرْبةُ هُنا تمْتصُّ أحْلى ما فيكَ، تأخذُ منْكَ نَسْغَكَ وشغفَكَ بالحياة، أحْلامَكَ وأجملَ سنواتِ عُمْرِك، تأخذُ شيْئًا مِنْ ملامِحِكَ وتُعطيكَ وجْهًا جديدًا ربّما لا يُشْبِهُكَ، تجْعلُ منكَ إنسانًا آليًّا مُبرْمَجًا على الرّكضِ ليْلَ نهار كي تعيشَ بيْن قَوْسَي الحياة (....) . في الغُربةِ هُنا تحْيا وحيْدًا مهْما كانَ عددُ أصْدقائِكَ أو أقارِبِك، مهْما كنْتَ مُحاطًا بِجمْهورٍ مِنْ مُدّعي الحُبِّ والمَحبَّة، فلا أحدَّ هنا مُهتمٌّ بِمشكِلاتِكَ، ولا يشْعرُ بِما يدور في داخِلِك. الكلُّ مُنْهمِكٌ بشؤونِهِ الخاصّة، ويصمُّ أُذنَيْهِ عنْ صوْتِكَ حتّى وإنْ كنْتَ تُكلّمُهُ وجْهًا لِوجْه. الغُرْبةُ هُنا أنْ تصْرخَ طلبًا للنّجْدةِ في لحْظةِ ضَعْفٍ، وتعْلمَ أنَّ ما منْ أحدٍ سَيُنْجِدُكَ سِوى نفْسِك، تسْعى دوْمًا لِرسْمِ ابْتسامتِكَ فوْقَ شفتَيْنِ مُنهكَتَيْنِ مِنَ الأنين، وترقُصُ فوْقَ جِراحٍ لا يعْلمُ بها سِواك، وتدَّعي الحياةَ كي تبْقى على قيدِ الحياة.
