Augusto De Angelis (Roma 1888 - Bellagio, Como 1934) Incarcerato per antifascismo nel 1943, morì in seguito alle percosse subite durante un'aggressione fascista. Scrittore e giornalista, è considerato il "padre nobile" del giallo all'italiana. Protagonista di suoi romanzi scritti tra il 1935 e 1942 e ambientati a Milano degli anni trenta e il Commissario Carlo De Vincenzi, della Squadra Mobile di piazza San Fedele: "umanissimo come Maigret, romantico come Marlowe, Intellettuale come Philo Vance, eppure caparbiamente italiano".
