Synopsis "Human Rights' Impact in International Law: Selected Issues (in English)"

About the book It looks for impacts of human rights in international law, in some its fields: imperative norms and fundamental principles, international security, international criminal justice, protection of the environment, humanitarian issues, state responsibility, responsibility of transnational corporations, cultural and linguistic diversity. The different chapters are based on international treaties and other documents, on the practice of States, of international and internal courts, of international organizations. The author underlines what are applicable norms of international law, where they exist, or approaches and trends in other fields, taking into account the more recent evolutions, like for instance in the fields of responsibility of transnational companies or of the protection of environment and the response to climate change. The law on human rights, as a chapter of international law, is also in progress, as it is proved with regard to structural racial discrimination and to the racist hate speech and with regard to evolutions in Europe, with all lacunae and inconsistencies which could be noted. Based on extensive research, the book brings in experiences from all continents, all regional courts and bodies, from international bodies such as the International Court of Justice, UNESCO, UNDP, International Law Commission, International Criminal Court and other criminal tribunals, and is trying to substantiate the universality of human rights, in spte of the world diversity. Each of the 24 chapters of the book is taking stock of the existing rules, attempts and experiences and can offer a good basis for a more extended study.
