Synopsis "How the Fox Got His Socks: A Fox in Pepper Green Socks Story (in English)"
How the Fox got His Socks is beautifully illustrated children's book tells a tale of compassion. When the fox is caught in a trap in the forest, he is rescued by a kind elderly gentleman whom we suspect is a wizard, fox returns the kindness by bringing the gentleman his lost watch. In turn, the fox receives a pair of magical, bright green, (pepper green socks). The wizard names the fox Fips and tells him that the socks will bringabout new adventures and opportunities to help others. This book is written in rhyme. Rhyming is an excellent way for young readers to remember a story and develop phonemic awareness which is a necessary early literacy skill. Kimberly Smith Andreadis has succeeded in providing a beautiful story that at the same time provides instruction. I highly recommend this book to parents and teachers who want to ignite the imagination of their children and students while teaching them vocabulary and life lessons. Rebekah Keener has provided the most imaginative illustrations so that all of the characters come alive on the page.Liz Bikakis, M.Ed.
