Synopsis "History 7th Field Artillery Battalion: World War II, Part 1 (in English)"

This history of the 7th Field Artillery Battalion In World War II Is a compilation of unit reports, extracts from unit journals and maps that cover the period from the convoy operation that took us to the landing at Arzew, Algeria on 8 November 1942, through the campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, the D-Day Normandy Landing on 6 June, 1944, and the campaigns across Europe, ending at Cheb, Czechoslovakia on VE Day 8 May 1945. The reports for month of June '45 provide a glimpse of occupation duties and incremental movement of troops to their homes. Pages entitled Memoranda and Anecdotes have been added so that each person can personalize his book for his family records by noting his experiences, awards, decorations and citations on the sheets provided. The official records that were compiled into this history carry awards, decorations, and battle casualties, but there were omissions. The following subjects are detailed: an abridged history; North African campaigns; Sicilian campaign; Sicilian duties and movement to England; Normandy; St. Lo and Mortain; Mons and Aachen; Hurtgen Forest; the Ardennes- Battle of the Bulge; Bonn and Remagen; Harz Mountains and Czechoslovakia; and occupation duties and return home.
