After agreeing to defend the teenager her Congressman in the Rio Grande Valley announces he wants to retire and wants Gabriela to run for his seat. In Texas the seventeen year old defendant is treated as an adult for trial. The teenager's trial is scheduled for March of 2020, giving Gabriela the opportunity to return to the Rio Grande Valley and run for Congress.
