Synopsis "Gunfire Along the River: A Concise History of the Battle of Crysler's Farm November 11, 1813 (in English)"
In the fall of 1813, the Americans launched one of their biggest campaigns of the War of 1812 in an attempt to capture Montreal and cut the movement of vital supplies to Upper Canada. If they were successful Upper Canada would fall. One American army, under the command of Wade Hampton, met determined Canadian resistance along the Chateauguay River in Lower Canada. While another bigger American army, under the command of James Wilkinson, came down the St. Lawrence River where it turned and faced a smaller British force following after it at John Crysler's Farm. A wet, cold November 11, 1813 came alive with gunfire as American, British and Canadian soldiers, along with Mohwak and Mississauga warriors, fought a fierce battle along the mighty St. Lawrence River. Gunfire Along the River tells the concise history of this important campaign.
