Gunfighters of the Old West II features such noted individuals as Doc Holliday, Cole Younger, Thomas Black Jack Ketchum, Mysterious Dave Mather, Jim Courtright, John Wesley Hardin, Chris Evans and John Sontag. Much of the action is precipitated by those with lesser reputations. Bank vaults, stagecoach lockboxes and Wells Fargo safes were frequently easy prey for outlaw gangs. Their members sometimes spent much of their short lives fleeing from the law. Killing was often an act of survival. To a few, it was a way of life. Conversely, there were able peace officers intent on bringing outlaws to justice. Lawmen such as Bill Tilghman, Virgil Earp and Dee Harkey risked their lives for little monetary compensation and a dedication to their badge and what it represented. Gunfighters of the Old West II strives to present the authenticity behind the individuals and events that are so much a part of American frontier folklore. A special section entitled Chronology of Frontier Firearms discusses the weaponry that was prevalent during this period. The text is complemented by a multitude of interesting photographs.
