Synopsis "Guarding the Gates of our Heart: Revised Text plus Study Guide (in English)"

Ancient Israel was protected by sturdy stone walls that allowed the watchmen to maintain close observation of those coming and going through the city gates. Therefore, the gates were of utmost importance. If a gate were neglected or torn down, anyone could come into the city unchecked. And those within the city could venture out to their own destruction. The task of the watchmen, then, was critical to the security of the city. No one could enter or exit without their knowledge. So it is with our lives; the gates of our heart must be carefully guarded to assure the right things come into and go out of our heart. Proverbs 4:23 warns, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." This revised edition contains an updated sequence of presentation and new material throughout the book. Additionally, two new chapters and study material have been added. Reverend Norman R. Lindsay has served in four states as youth pastor, Christian education pastor, senior pastor (in four congregations), business administrator, denominational officer, and college instructor. He has been married to his wife Judy for 49 years. He has two grown children and two grown grandchildren. He is retired from full-time ministry and now spends his time writing, teaching and preaching as opportunities are presented. Dr. Lindsay received his B.S. degree at North Central University, an M.A. in Biblical Literature from Oral Roberts University, and. D. Min. in Leadership from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.
