S. "Doc" Young, the leading African-American sports writer of his time. He was sports editor of Jet Magazine, the Cleveland Call-Post, Los Angeles Sentinel, and Chicago Defender. He was also the author of Sonny Liston: The Champ Nobody Wanted and Negro Firsts in Sports both published in 1963.
