Synopsis "Gentlemen Lift the sea (in English)"

First of a series of selected poems taken from over sixty years of writing, covering a diversity of subjects, styles, humours and lengths. Gregory s poetry eschews capitals, and the standard hierarchy of prose punctuation (deliberately promoting the lesser brackets, hyphens and dashes) but remains primly attached to the apostrophe. The question-mark too has been obliterated. Poems arise out of questions poets ask of themselves. They do not need to be repeated in print. Poems (for Gregory) are statements built out of a conglomeration of answers.
