Synopsis "Factors Affecting Clinical Performance of Nursing and Midwifery technician students (in English)"
This cross-sectional quantitative investigation was conducted to unearth the factors that could be attributed to the average and below average grades for nurse midwife technicians in both midwifery and medical-surgical nursing clinical practice in three nursing and midwifery colleges (Malawi College of Health Sciences-Zomba campus, St Luke and St Joseph colleges of nursing and midwifery) in Malawi. The nursing and midwifery educators were surprised and concerned with students' unsatisfactory clinical grades compared with their grades in the theoretical part of their training. It was envisaged that the findings of this study would be used to stem the poor clinical performance of the nursing and midwifery technician students so as to produce competent and skillful nurse midwives fit to join the health care delivery system and improve health status of the people of Malawi.
