Die Arbeit analysiert aktuelle Entlehnungen und Lehnwortintegrationen im Französischen und in anderen romanischen Sprachen. Die untersuchten Phänomene werden dabei konsequent aus der Perspektive der Sprecher fokussiert. Wesentliches Ziel ist es, eine kommunikationstheoretisch adäquate Modellierung der Entlehnungen zu erarbeiten und die Komplexität der damit verbundenen Sprachwandelprozesse herauszustellen. Insbesondere wird dem Auftreten konkurrierender Formen von Lehnwörtern, die sich hinsichtlich des Integrationsgrads voneinander unterscheiden, Rechnung getragen.
