Heinrich Hinterman (1888 -1933), nacido en Zúrich, Suiza, visitó el Ecuador entre octubre de 1924 y mayo de 1925. Su itinerario lo llevó de Guayaquil a Quito, y de la capital, por las selvas orientales, hasta al Atlántico siguiendo el río Amazonas. Este viaje es la segunda parte de su recorrido por Sudamérica en el que narra su viaje por Ecuador, con especial dedicación a su recorrido selvático.
