اقْتَرَبَتْ عَقارِبُ السّاعَةِ مِنَ الثّانِيَةِ ظُهْراً، كانَتْ والِدَةُ عَامِرٍ تَقومُ بِوَضْعِ الطَّعامِ عَلى المائِدَةِ، وأَثْناءَ ذَلِكَ كانَ عامِرٌ قَدْ وَصَلَ المَنْزِلَ بَعْدَ أَنْ أَوْصَلَتْهُ الحافِلَةُ المَدْرَسِيَّةُ ومَعَهُ صَديقاهُ التَّوْأَمُ سامِرٌ وتامِرٌ، اللّذانِ يَقْطُنانِ بِجِوارِ مَنْزِلِهِ. وما إِنِ افْتَرَقَ عامِرٌ عَنْهُما، حَتّى رَكَضَ مُسْرِعاً نَحْوَ مَنْزِلِهِ، عِنْدَما شاهَدَ القِطَّةَ لولي تَتَسَلَّقُ سُورَ مَنْزِلِهِ، ثُمّ اختَفَتْ عَنْ عَيْنَيْهِ، فتَبِعَها مُسْرِعاً إلى الدّاخِلِ.وَضَعَ عامِرٌ حَقيبَتَهُ أَرْضاً، غَيْرَ آبِهٍ بِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ، حَيْثُ كانَ جُلُّ تَرْكيزِهِ عَلى لولي، فَبَادَرَهُ والِدُهُ بِالتَّحِيَّةِ.
