Synopsis "Elders in the Church: "The Lord's Overseer" (in English)"
Paul's Epistle to Timothy Paul wrote an epistle to Timothy because some were not teaching sound doctrine, and this is the reason elders are needed in the church. Vs 2 "Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord." Vs 3 "As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine," Vs 4 "Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith; so do." (KJV I Timothy 1:2;4) Paul's Epistle to Titus Vs. "For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee." (KJV Titus 1:5) Vs 10 in Titus Chapter 1, Paul says that "many are unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, ..."Vs 11 in Titus Chapter one. He says their "mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake."
