Synopsis "El Mundo en Llamas"

Este libro de carácter colaborativo nace de una invitación realizada por Pólvora Editorial al filósofo David E. Johnson y al artista chileno Javier Toro Blum para que sostuvieran un encuentro en torno a la obra “Libreros”, la que posteriormente fue re-nombrada “El mundo en llamas” el año 2017. Sin embargo, antes que un comentario de la obra, el resultado de este encuentro es un profundo ensayo filosófico que gira en torno al gesto que inaugura nuestra experiencia de la modernidad: la “destrucción” del mundo que lleva a cabo el cogito de Descartes. La demora, la imaginación, el tacto, el terror, el fuego y la desaparición son elementos que se piensan a propósito del hecho de que: “El mundo ya no es, yo llevo el mundo en mí, el mundo depende de mí”.
