Es geht von der simplen Erfahrung aus, dass viele Dinge im privaten, wie im öffentlichen Leben anders ausgehen als es geplant und gewünscht war. In diesem Fall will eine Greenpeace-Gruppe in Bosnien das blaue Herz Europas retten, erlebt aber durch menschliche Unzulänglichkeiten und Rachegefühle eine Katastrophe mit zum Teil tödlichem Ausgang. Dazu kommt für zwei Überlebende eine lebensgefährliche Begegnung mit tschetschenischen Migranten in der Wildnis zur kroatischen Grenze, die sie wegen durch Covid-25 erfolgter Grenzschlie ung illegal überqueren wollen. Im letzten Augenblick werden sie durch einen Einsiedler und seinen Hund gerettet.
