Doorways by Dr. Yousef El-Kaddar The five doorways of the book are full with strands of stories that no one can say where the fact ends and fiction/fantasy begins. Doorway One: A myth of an elderly hunchback named Khandaburro Derwish descends from the sky, leaving behind his irreplaceable footprints on the desert landscape. Years later, a mysterious trip by a family to his grave triggers a sensational crime. Doorway Two: An apparition suddenly appears in the dark of night, as a woman, when Joseph visits his Uncle Al. A ghost remains an international mystery. Doorway Three: A grave of a donkey, alias Pojangles, becomes a mystical power for healing; while the wife to the donkey's owner appears as a snake-haired woman. Years later, a street dancer, alias Shishbani, surfaces as Pojangles in disguise. It is an epic fantasy. Doorway Four: Joseph has a strong sense of the unseen presence in the house of Batnoons, as he keeps his eyes shut and his ears radar ready. Doorway Five: Joseph's tears bleed black on the calamitous memory of little Rashida.
