Synopsis "Dirges of the Still Waters (in English)"

"Dirges of The Still Waters" is a story about a young girl who wants nothing more in life than to become a poetess. There is one thing that is stopping her from achieving that goal: she is illiterate. But, that does not stop her from creating poetry in her thoughts and her ability to "archive" her poems there. She is able to retrieve them with total recall. This novel contemplates the life if this young girl, 15 year old, Vadeedee Johnson, also of those in her family and their separate dramas all of which are emotionally and physically attached to Vadeedee's search for the freedom of being literate. She is also searching for love and understanding something that her mother, Roberta Johnson, a very practical woman may not be so inclined to indulge her in due to her own problems. Vadeedee is not likely to find it coming from the boy she loves, Simon Netigear, with whom she has a contentious relationship. But she has no difficulty in attaining it from her new adult friend, Lynn Cutter, a new resident in Aladdin, the area in which Vadeedee and her family all live. When Lynn Cutter succeeds in teaching Vadeedee her academics in a small school in the Village of Aladdin, and is able to obtain for her a means of leaving Aladdin and possibly having all of her writing dreams come true, it is blocked by Vadeedee's mother who is not ready to let here child leave the home; this would mean also leaving the mother, who is now a widow, alone. Drama occurs in the lives of each of the characters in Vadeedee's family that weigh upon her to some degree and these incidents all have to do with her spiritual grown or stunting. The question becomes will this young girl be allowed to become all that she can become?
