Synopsis "Diplomatic Architecture of African Union (in English)"

About the Book For over four decades, Africa has been struggling to be recognised by the global community as a force to be reckoned with. This, however appears to be a myth due to a number of factors ranging from politico-economic instability to insecurity which serve as a clog in the wheel of development in any society. After attaining independence from the colonial masters by most African States, there was a need to have a common forum wherein Africans could express their views on global issues. This therefore culminated in the formation of Organisation of African Unity with robust objectives. The organisation could not achieve all the objectives as expected but the continent decided to change to a new body with faster and better achievable objectives. Nevertheless, the new body, African Union, is yet to achieve its set objectives. The book X-rays the reasons behind the formation of the regional body, the achievements and failures, as well as the way forward for the betterment of Africans. This book will serve as a resource material for diplomats, scholars, students and the general public interested in global issues as they affect Africa and the wider world. About the Author Thaddeus Aondongu Mbalian hails from Azege, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria.
