Synopsis "Die Boemelaar (in Africanos)"

The hobo is in the autumn of his life when everything he worked so hard for, is lost. He decides to flee from his pride and shame and inevitably becomes a tramp. His friend is with him for a major part of his life as a tramp but another mysterious person also follows him on his journey. Heartache but also joy follows him on the path into the unknown. Even the Uniondale ghost crosses his path. The tramp spends time at the Karoo towns where he spent his youth and tells his childhood stories to the towns' children. There are comical stories but also tales of heartache and tales that warm the heart. The longing for his family and especially his granddaughter causes him to return home. But is he welcome there?
