Denn sie zeigt nicht nur die typischen italienischen Bauformen, sondern verweist auch mit einigen Formen wie den Osttürmen oder den Säulenformen auf die oberrheinische und burgundische Gegend. Doch nicht nur in ihrer Architektur ist die Basilika ein besonderes Synonym. Sie stellt zusätzlich auch ein Unikat der Comasken Skulptur der Romanik in ihrer plastischen Ausstattung dar.
