Das hepatozelluläre Karzinom (HCC) ist die fünfthäufigste Krebserkrankung weltweit und seine Inzidenz nimmt derzeit zu. In Tunesien stellt das HCC aufgrund der zunehmenden Häufigkeit des chronischen Tragens von Hepatitis-B- und Hepatitis-C-Viren ein echtes Problem für die öffentliche Gesundheit dar. In 90 % der Fälle tritt es bei Patienten mit einer chronischen Lebererkrankung auf, die sich meist im Stadium der Zirrhose befindet. Um die Gesamtprognose des HCC in Tunesien zu verbessern, müssen die therapeutischen Mittel, insbesondere die interventionelle Radiologie, verbessert und vor allem das Screening gefördert und organisiert werden.
