After fighting in the bloody Civil War and drifting for years in a lawless fog, Arlan Crywood has laid down his guns, turned his back on his own worst actions and fashioned a peaceful existence in the American West of 1880. But when a plague of locusts attack farm after farm, devastating livelihoods across the plains, Arlan knows he must revisit his past to save his family.
