Synopsis "Connie's Story (in English)"

Connie's Story takes place in a small town in South Dakota called Murdo. The town is real and very dear to my heart. Hope Crandall is the main character. She experiences a terrible tragedy at a very young age, and struggles to find her way. Hope rises above a few failed attempts, and more than a few challenges, as she learns the importance of listening to her best self. She has also been given a very special gift to help her through it all. This story has sorrow, healing, humor, fun, character building, problems, answers, and incredible family dynamics. You will laugh and cry, and feel every other emotion possible. When I was in High School, I was in awe of a girl named Connie. I wanted to be "Connie like." I copied her hairstyle and clothes, and admired her every move, but no matter what I did, I fell short. I became increasingly frustrated and disappointed until finally, I decided I had to be me, and oddly enough, I became more like Connie. There is a little bit of Connie in this story, and a little bit of me. The aunts and uncles and cousins are something else. I hope you find this story that begins with the gift of a Connie doll to be provocative and insightful, as well as humorous and fun. Most of all, I hope it's Connie Like. This book would be ideal for a young boy or girl suffering a loss, or having to deal with new and different family situations. Hope learns how to interact with grandparents, other family members, elderly aunts, and she realizes the importance of special friendships.
