The young, weathered brunette nurse slipped the old familiar plastic mask over his face, allowing the oxygen to flow through and into his lungs."Hey there, you're back with me. Remember me?" she asked as she brushed her sweat filled hair away from her sticky cheeks with a smile, then stroked his clammy forehead. "Again? Thought we broke up already." he sighed with despair, trying to attempt a lighthearted joke to her. "Well, I guess you're going to have to do a better job of that next time, Mr. Miles." The nurse said back. "Who's my doctor this time?" he asked. "It's a SHE this time. Dr. Laurane. She just finished her cancer residency so she's new, but we will break her in, won't me Mr. Miles?" the nurse said with sadden adoration through eyes filled will tears only she could feel. "Well, if she needs practice, I'll have plenty of it for her, won't I?" he laughed through the coughs. "Did I ever tell you I use to know someone named Laurane? She was a great friend. We would stay up talking to each other on the phone for nights on end. But that my child was a lifetime ago.
