Synopsis "Black Mamba White Settler (in English)"

Life and change moves fast in Africa. As a young Rhodesian policeman Tom soon becomes involved in the struggle for independence as the 'Winds of Change' sweep through the continent. He falls in love, marries and after three years in the police force leaves to pursue his love of farming. When terrorists attack and kill a farmer he joins the Police Anti Terrorist Unit (PATU). Lucas, the black policeman who worked with him in the police force, joins his unit and for the next 10 years they hunt down gangs of insurgents who are attacking soft targets - schools, missionaries and farmers during the long drawn out Rhodesian 'Bush War'. Whilst on patrol Tom and his unit are involved in a number of contacts, ambushes, land mines and skirmishes with the terrorists. Over the years Tom and Lucas come in 'contact' on a number of occasions with Mamba, a terrorist leader who always manages to escape. Eventually he loses his leg when an ambush he sets goes wrong, and swears to get his revenge on those he holds responsible. During this time Tom suffers a great personal loss and decides to leave the country. After independence Tom returns to what is now called Zimbabwe and meets up again with his old friend Lucas. 20 years after the war had ended and the two men are happily settled on their farms, the farm invasions by Mugabe's government sponsored thugs begin, and they cross paths once again with the ex-guerrilla - but now the situation is reversed and Mamba has the upper hand. He becomes a threat to the lives of both men and their families. This has to be dealt with before they become victims of the war-vet's hatred.Based on the authors life, this thrilling account set in Africa during troubles times, tells of the horrors of war, times of peace and the bravery and terror experienced by farmers, their families and their workers, when their farms are invaded by aggressive war veterans and 'Green Bombers', and what they have all ultimately lost as the Western World ignores the atrocities and genocide being committed in Zimbabwe and turns their back on kith and kin.
