David Joseph Gariano was arrested at his home in early December, 2012 for growing marijuana. He would later be sentenced to five years in Federal Prison. Over the next several years, he wrote about his experience with incarceration, the men with whom he shared his time, and some of the incredible experiences that shaped him along the way. The story alternates between one of a young man exploring the boundless nature and opportunity of 1960s and 70s America and that of a tiny grey world wrapped in concrete and sodium lights. Big Love, 29655-057 is a vivid and often heartbreaking description of life inside the United States prison system and a reminder of the humanity of the more than two million individuals that are confined within its walls.
