Synopsis "Belonging and Exile in writings of Agha Shahid Ali and A.K.Ramanujan (in English)"

If language is the medium of expression of ideas, feeling and motivation in writing, speaking and in kinesis; and if language possesses a science of its own then ideas, feelings and emotions should be analyzed in terms of the linguistics rules and nuances . I shall be delving deep into the core of the concept of 'belonging' from this very stand point in the successive paragraphs. We consider the term 'belonging(s)' which is basically a noun and means 'the thing that somebody own which can be moved' (102 Oxford Dictionary), has its root in the term 'belong' which is a verb. As a noun 'belonging(s)' is interpreted variously in various dictionaries Collins Cobuld defines it as 'the things that you own specially things that are small enough to be carried' (96). Whereas Cambridge ALD defines the word as noun means 'the things that a person owns, especially those which can be carried. Webster dictionary defines it as verb 'to be a part of something (Webster: 83). The word indicates both mental and physical status of some body or something taking together. Random House dictionary defines the word as noun 'the quality or state of being an essential or important part of something' (Random House 76). Coming to the root word i.e. 'belong' which is verb Oxford ALD 8th suggests its origin in middle English from 'be' and archaic word 'long' therefore belong means together with. From this verb an uncountable 'belonging' word coined which is my concern and is defined as 'to feel the sense of belonging' which could be explained as to attach to somebody or something as a part of our own belonging(s).
