Das Buch handelt von einem weltweit organisierten Internetbetrug einer Gruppe der "Romance Scammer" aus Nordafrika. Es handelt sich dabei um Betrüger, die nach Liebesversprechen plötzlich in eine vorgegebene Notlage kommen und die Opfer veranlassen, mit einem Geldbetrag kurzfristig zu helfen. Sie schwören bei Gott und dem Leben ihrer Kinder, den Betrag kurzfristig zurückzuerstatten. Der Erfolg dieser Gruppe beruht auf einer geschickten psychologischen Ausnutzung von menschlichen Sehnsüchten nach Partnerschaft, Liebe und Reichtum. Der/die Täter nutzten hierfür den Namen eines hochrangigen und tatsächlich existierenden NATO-Generals aus den USA. Die mir vorliegenden E-Mails und Chats von Frauen aus allen Teilen der Erde inspirierten mich zum Schreiben des Buches.
