Bardolomy tells the story of a man who travels to the stars in search of happiness and a new home. Earth is flooded, and Europa, his workplace, is a frozen world. Welcomed by a friendly race of evolved humans engineered by an A.I., he discovers the terrible secret to their survival. The planet has such a hellish climate of storms, torrential rains, solar flares, and searing heat from two suns that the people must hibernate underground during the Burn season. He must either repair his ship and resume a possibly futile quest for a more hospitable planet, or modify his genetic structure and transform into a different species. In addition, by bringing advanced technology and weapons, he awakens an ancient interspecies rivalry that threatens to undermine the harmony of the civilization.
