Das Aufkommen der neoadjuvanten Behandlung sowie die breite Akzeptanz chirurgischer Konzepte wie die totale mesorektale Exzision und die Resektion des umlaufenden Randes haben die Behandlung des rektalen Adenokarzinoms auf ein ganz neues Niveau gehoben. Ihr Hauptnutzen liegt in der Kontrolle des Lokalrezidivs. Für die adäquate Behandlung von Rektumkarzinomen ist es daher unerlässlich, dass das präoperative Stadium genau bestimmt wird. Ziel dieser Studie ist es, die Auswirkung der neoadjuvanten Therapie bei Patienten mit rektalem Adenokarzinom auf das TNM-Stadium zu untersuchen und die Verwendung der Magnetresonanztomographie für das loco-regionale Staging zu bestätigen.
