Das Kniegelenk ist ein komplexes Synovialgelenk des Körpers, das in etwa 50 % der muskuloskelettalen Verletzungen und Funktionsstörungen involviert ist, von denen das Patellofemoralgelenk in die Mehrzahl der Verletzungen und Funktionsstörungen im Zusammenhang mit dem Kniegelenk involviert ist. Ein wichtiges Ma für die Ausrichtung des Patellofemoralgelenks ist der Quadrizepswinkel oder Q-Winkel.
