Synopsis "Assessment of Water Quality Around Oil Facilities in Bonny, Rs, Nigeria (in English)"
Bonny is an oil and gas exploration hub in the Niger Delta and this activities have impacted negatively on the health status of its aquatic ecosystems. This book investigated some physicochemical, heavy metals, and microbial parameters of surface and groundwater around oil facilities in Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria. The surface and ground water samples were collected from three stations each, in March and September 2022 according to standard methods. The results of this study revealed that the pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, BOD, Pb, Cd, and TCB of the surface water were above acceptable limits while the borehole waters were portable, hence, the oil and gas operation in the community should regulate their activities within international best practices and to minimize the negative impacts of their operations in Bonny LGA and other oil producing communities in the Niger Delta. Also, regulatory authorities (international and national) should ensure consensus standards for the various water quality parameters standard for the several areas without existing standards.
