Note from the editor, Vince Font: Amid the dark and dismal days of late 2020 and early 2021, I found myself at an emotional and psychological nadir, searching anywhere I could from the safety of my home for confirmation that the spark of human decency-of compassion for the weak, of humanity toward the oppressed, and whispered kindnesses amid a nationwide scream fest-was still alive. I found that proof in words. Those words, along with the names of the individuals who wrote them, are contained within this book. I thank them all for showing me that hope can still exist, even in the bleakest of times-and for reminding me that all we have to do to exterminate the darkness is to call upon those carrying the light.
